The City of Neighborhoods
Philadelphia is famous for its distinct neighborhoods and arts districts, each defined by hundreds of years of history, immigration, migration and times of prosperity and hardship.
Temple University and Tyler are proud residents of the area in and around North Broad, a striking boulevard and business corridor stretching from City Hall to Butler Street – four miles of art, architecture, theatres, restaurants, businesses and Philadelphia’s only public university. Encompassing eight city neighborhoods, our vital enclave offers endless discovery and opportunities to connect to the people who make North Broad their home.

Designing for Philadelphia
As part of an elective studio over spring and summer 2024, Tyler architecture students designed and built prototype structures to inspire stalls for the Southeast Asian Market in FDR Park. As part of the project, they presented their stall designs and models to vendors of the Cambodian Association of Greater Philadelphia.
"It means a lot that an institution that is Philly-made is championing the market. To build community includes spaces, people, and organizations from all over the city; this is community at its truest form."

Sarun Chan
Executive Director at the Cambodian Association of Greater Philadelphia.
