Each year the graduate student admissions application for the Tyler School of Art and Architecture opens August 1.
Your specific deadline for submitting your application, supporting materials, and portfolio (if required) depends on a couple of factors:
The semester you plan to begin
Your desired degree program
December 15 is the fall admissions application deadline at Tyler for these students:
January 6 is the fall admissions application deadline for these graduate programs in art and architecture at Tyler:
*After January 6, Tylers admissions team and faculty may consider late applications for these programs. However, please note that only applicants who meet the January 6 deadline will be considered for financial assistance.
November 1 is the spring admissions application deadline for these graduate programs in art and architecture at Tyler that offer an option to begin in the spring semester:
The outline below provides topline information about admission requirements to Tyler School of Art and Architecture graduate degree programs.
For example, the MA and PhD in Art History require a writing sample as well as a statement of goals.
Also note: Tyler may request interviews during the application review process.
Once you submit your application and pay the application fee, our application system automatically populates a list of required supplemental information such as the following.
Official college transcripts directly from the institution(s)
Statement of goals (500-1,000 words)
Resumé
3 letters of recommendation
Test Scores (optional!) — directly from the testing agency and completed within the last five years
English language test scores for international students only
None of Tyler’s graduate programs require the GRE or GMAT. However, these programs accept your GRE or GMAT test scores as supplemental to your admissions application:

MS City and Regional Planning
MS Facilities Planning
MLArch Landscape Architecture
