Tyler Graduate Degree Programs Admissions Requirements
The outline below provides topline information about admission requirements to Tyler School of Art and Architecture graduate degree programs.
1. Before you apply, please review full details and admissions requirements specific to your graduate degree program of interest in the official Temple University online Bulletin.
For example, the MA and PhD in Art History require a writing sample as well as a statement of goals.
Also note: Tyler may request interviews during the application review process.
2. Apply to the Tyler School of Art and Architecture using our graduate student application.
3. Gather and submit your supplemental documents.
- Official college transcripts directly from the institution(s)
- Statement of goals (500-1,000 words)
- Resumé
- 3 letters of recommendation
- Test Scores (optional!) — directly from the testing agency and completed within the last five years
- English language test scores for international students only
4. Upload your portfolio online via Temple SlideRoom, if applicable.

Portfolios optional for applicants to the MLArch program. Portfolios not required for applicants in Art History or City and Regional Planning
